Now ifit is an animalof the kind whichmen can presentas an offeringto the LORD,anysuchthat one givesto the LORDshall be holy.
It is a trapfor a manto sayrashly,"It is holy!"And afterthe vowsto makeinquiry.
Do not letyour speechcause you to sinand do not sayin the presenceof the messenger[of God] that it was a mistake.Whyshould Godbe angryon accountof your voiceand destroythe workof your hands?
"Moreover, they shall not sellor exchangeanyof it, or alienatethis choice[portion] of land;for it is holyto the LORD.
He shall not replaceit or exchangeit, a goodfor a bad,ora badfor a good;or ifhe doesexchangeanimalfor animal,then both it and its substituteshall becomeholy.
But ifhe is poorerthanyour valuation,then he shall be placedbeforethe priestand the priestshall valuehim; accordingto the meansof the one who vowed,the priestshall valuehim.
"Ifa personactsunfaithfullyand sinsunintentionallyagainstthe LORD'Sholythings,then he shall bringhis guiltofferingto the LORD:a ramwithoutdefectfrom the flock,according to your valuationin silverby shekels,in [terms of] the shekelof the sanctuary,for a guiltoffering.
"But you say,'Whoeversaysto [his] fatherormother,"WhateverI havethat would helpyou has been given[to God],"
