And they said,"Whatoneis there of the tribesof Israelwhodid not comeup to the LORDat Mizpah?"And behold,noonehad cometo the campfrom Jabesh-gileadto the assembly.
When allJabesh-gileadheardallthat the Philistineshad doneto Saul,
"Whatshall we dofor wivesfor thosewho are left,since we have swornby the LORDnot to givethem anyof our daughtersin marriage?"
For when the peoplewere numbered,behold,not oneof the inhabitantsof Jabesh-gileadwas there.
CurseMeroz,'saidthe angelof the LORD,'Utterlycurseits inhabitants;Becausethey did not cometo the helpof the LORD,To the helpof the LORDagainst the warriors.'
He tooka yokeof oxenand cutthem in pieces,and sent[them] throughoutthe territoryof Israelby the handof messengers,saying,"Whoeverdoes not comeout afterSauland afterSamuel,soshall it be doneto his oxen."Then the dreadof the LORDfellon the people,and they cameout as oneman.
They saidto the messengerswho had come,"Thusyou shall sayto the menof Jabesh-gilead,'Tomorrow,by the time the sunis hot,you will havedeliverance.'"So the messengerswentand toldthe menof Jabesh;and they were glad.
