When the manaroseto goalong with his concubineand servant,his father-in-law,the girl'sfather,saidto him, "Beholdnow,the dayhas drawnto a close;pleasespendthe night.Lo,the dayis comingto an end;spendthe nightherethat your heartmay be merry.Then tomorrowyou may ariseearlyfor your journeyso that you may gohome."
Absalomcommandedhis servants,saying,"Seenow,when Amnon'sheartis merrywith wine,and when I sayto you, 'StrikeAmnon,'then puthim to death.Do not fear;have not I myselfcommandedyou? Be courageousand be valiant."
Do not boastabout tomorrow,For you do not knowwhata daymay bringforth.
But they urgedHim, saying,"Staywith us, for it is [getting] towardevening,and the dayis nownearly over."SoHe wentin to staywith them.
But the manwas not willingto spendthe night,so he aroseand departedand cameto [a place] oppositeJebus(that is, Jerusalem).And there were with him a pairof saddleddonkeys;his concubinealso was with him.
So bothof them satdownand ateand dranktogether;and the girl'sfathersaidto the man,"Pleasebe willingto spendthe night,and let your heartbe merry."
On the fifthdayhe aroseto goearlyin the morning,and the girl'sfathersaid,"Pleasesustainyourself,and waituntilafternoon";so bothof them ate.
When Boazhad eatenand drunkand his heartwas merry,he wentto liedownat the endof the heapof grain;and she camesecretly,and uncoveredhis feetand laydown.
