Then the angelof the LORDappearedto the womanand saidto her, "Beholdnow,you are barrenand have borneno[children], but you shall conceiveand givebirthto a son.
"I will blessher, and indeedI will giveyou a sonby her. Then I will blessher, and she shall be [a mother of] nations;kingsof peopleswill comefrom her."
He said,"I will surelyreturnto you at this timenextyear;and behold,Sarahyour wifewill have a son."And Sarahwas listeningat the tentdoor,whichwas behindhim.
"Is anythingtoodifficultfor the LORD?At the appointedtimeI will returnto you, at thistimenextyear,and Sarahwill have a son."
Then he said,"At thisseasonnextyearyou will embracea son."And she said,"No,my lord,O manof God,do not lieto your maidservant."
And an angelof the Lordappearedto him, standingto the rightof the altarof incense.
But the angelsaidto him, "Do not be afraid,Zacharias,for your petitionhas been heard,and your wifeElizabethwill bearyou a son,and you will givehim the nameJohn.
So the womanranquicklyand toldher husband,"Behold,the manwhocamethe [other] dayhas appearedto me."
Then Manoahsaidto the angelof the LORD,"Pleaselet us detainyou so that we may preparea younggoatfor you."
Then the womancameand toldher husband,saying,"A manof Godcameto me and his appearancewas like the appearanceof the angelof God,veryawesome.And I did not askhim wherehe [came] from, nordid he tellme his name.
Then Manoahentreatedthe LORDand said,"OLord,pleaselet the manof GodwhomYou have sentcometo us againthat he may teachus whatto dofor the boywho is to be born."
Now the angelof the LORDcameup from Gilgalto Bochim.And he said,"I broughtyou up out of Egyptand ledyou into the landwhichI have swornto your fathers;and I said,I will neverbreakMy covenantwith you,
The LORDlookedat him and said,"Goin thisyour strengthand deliverIsraelfrom the handof Midian.Have I not sentyou?"
It cameabout in duetime,after Hannahhad conceived,that she gavebirthto a son;and she namedhim Samuel,[saying], "BecauseI have askedhim of the LORD."
