Theseare grumblers,finding fault,followingaftertheir [own] lusts;they speakarrogantly,flatteringpeoplefor the sakeof [gaining an] advantage.
"Let me nowbe partialto noone,Norflatter[any] man.
Whoshowsnopartialityto princesNorregardsthe richabovethe poor,For they allare the workof His hands?
But grumbledin their tents;They did not listento the voiceof the LORD.
In whose eyesa reprobateis despised,But who honorsthose who fearthe LORD;He swearsto his own hurtand does not change;
They have closedtheir unfeeling[heart], With their mouththey speakproudly.
They mockand wickedlyspeakof oppression;They speakfrom on high.
To showpartialityis not good,Becausefor a pieceof breada manwill transgress.
"Those who errin mindwill knowthe truth,And those who criticizewill acceptinstruction.
You shall donoinjusticein judgment;you shall not be partialto the poornordeferto the great,but you are to judgeyour neighborfairly.
As for the menwhomMosessentto spyout the landand who returnedand made allthe congregationgrumbleagainsthim by bringingout a badreportconcerningthe land,
"Thereforeyou and allyour companyare gatheredtogether againstthe LORD;but as for Aaron,whois he that you grumbleagainsthim?"
But on the nextdayallthe congregationof the sonsof IsraelgrumbledagainstMosesand Aaron,saying,"You are the ones who have causedthe deathof the LORD'Speople."
Boththe Phariseesand the scribes[began] to grumble,saying,"This manreceivessinnersand eatswith them."
When they sawit, they all[began] to grumble,saying,"He has goneto be the guestof a manwho is a sinner."
The Phariseesand their scribes[began] grumblingat His disciples,saying,"Whydo you eatand drinkwith the tax collectorsand sinners?"
Thereforethe Jewswere grumblingaboutHim, becauseHe said,"I amthe breadthat came downout of heaven."
But Jesus,consciousthat His disciplesgrumbledat this,saidto them, "Does thiscause you to stumble?
Norgrumble,as someof them did,and were destroyedby the destroyer.
But I say,walkby the Spirit,and you will not carryout the desireof the flesh.
Nowthosewho belong to ChristJesushave crucifiedthe fleshwith its passionsand desires.
and you grumbledin your tentsand said,'Because the LORDhatesus, He has broughtus out of the landof Egyptto deliverus into the handof the Amoritesto destroyus.
Doall thingswithoutgrumblingordisputing;
not in lustfulpassion,likethe Gentileswho do not knowGod;
and constant frictionbetween menof depravedmindand deprivedof the truth,who supposethat godlinessis a means of gain.
For the timewill comewhenthey will not enduresounddoctrine;but [wanting] to have their earstickled,they will accumulatefor themselvesteachersin accordanceto their owndesires,
As obedientchildren,do not be conformedto the formerlusts[which were yours] in your ignorance,
Beloved,I urgeyou as aliensand strangersto abstainfrom fleshlylustswhichwage waragainstthe soul.
soas to livethe restof the timein the fleshno longerfor the lustsof men,but for the willof God.
and especiallythosewho indulgethe fleshin [its] corruptdesiresand despiseauthority.Daring,self-willed,they do not tremblewhen they revileangelic majesties,
For speakingout arrogant[words] of vanitythey enticeby fleshlydesires,by sensuality,thosewho barelyescapefrom the ones who livein error,
Knowthisfirstof all, that in the lastdaysmockerswill comewith [their] mocking,followingaftertheir ownlusts,
to executejudgmentupon all,and to convictallthe ungodlyof alltheir ungodlydeedswhichthey have done in an ungodly way,and of allthe harsh thingswhichungodlysinnershave spokenagainstHim."
that they were sayingto you, "In the lasttimethere will be mockers,followingaftertheir ownungodlylusts."
