Saul'sson[had] twomenwho were commandersof bands:the nameof the onewas Baanahand the nameof the otherRechab,sonsof Rimmonthe Beerothite,of the sonsof Benjamin(for Beerothis alsoconsidered[part] of Benjamin,
and Ishmaiahthe Gibeonite,a mightymanamong the thirty,and overthe thirty.Then Jeremiah,Jahaziel,Johanan,Jozabadthe Gederathite,
Thesewere the sonsof Caleb.The sonsof Hur,the firstbornof Ephrathah,[were] Shobalthe fatherof Kiriath-jearim,
Shobalthe fatherof Kiriath-jearimhadsons:Haroeh,halfof the Manahathites,
and the familiesof Kiriath-jearim:the Ithrites,the Puthites,the Shumathitesand the Mishraites;from thesecamethe Zorathitesand the Eshtaolites.
For the tabernacleof the LORD,whichMoseshad madein the wilderness,and the altarof burntoffering[were] in the highplaceat Gibeonat that time.

the menof Kiriath-jearim,Chephirahand Beeroth,743;
Indeed,there was alsoa manwho prophesiedin the nameof the LORD,Uriahthe sonof Shemaiahfrom Kiriath-jearim;and he prophesiedagainstthiscityand againstthislandwordssimilar to allthose of Jeremiah.
that he fearedgreatly,becauseGibeon[was] a greatcity,like oneof the royalcities,and becauseit was greaterthanAi,and allits men[were] mighty.
Kiriath-baal(that is, Kiriath-jearim),and Rabbah;twocitieswith their villages.
From the topof the mountainthe bordercurvedto the springof the watersof Nephtoahand proceededto the citiesof MountEphron,then the bordercurvedto Baalah(that is, Kiriath-jearim).
The borderextended[from there] and turnedroundon the westsidesouthward,from the hillwhich[lies] beforeBeth-horonsouthward;and it endedat Kiriath-baal(that is, Kiriath-jearim),a cityof the sonsof Judah.This[was] the westside.
Then the southside[was] from the edgeof Kiriath-jearim,and the borderwentwestwardand wentto the fountainof the watersof Nephtoah.
It cameabout at the endof threedaysafterthey had madea covenantwith them, that they heardthat they were neighborsand that they were livingwithintheir land.
The sonsof Israeldid not strikethem becausethe leadersof the congregationhad swornto them by the LORDthe Godof Israel.And the wholecongregationgrumbledagainstthe leaders.
When the inhabitantsof GibeonheardwhatJoshuahad doneto Jerichoand to Ai,
They saidto him, "Your servantshave comefrom a veryfarcountrybecause of the fameof the LORDyour God;for we have heardthe reportof Him and allthat He didin Egypt,
They wentup and campedat Kiriath-jearimin Judah.Thereforethey calledthat placeMahaneh-danto thisday;behold,it is westof Kiriath-jearim.
So they sentmessengersto the inhabitantsof Kiriath-jearim,saying,"The Philistineshave broughtbackthe arkof the LORD;comedownand takeit up to you."
And the menof Kiriath-jearimcameand tookthe arkof the LORDand broughtit into the houseof Abinadabon the hill,and consecratedEleazarhis sonto keepthe arkof the LORD.
