And he tookabout 5,000menand setthem in ambushbetweenBetheland Ai,on the westsideof the city.
Then he proceededfrom thereto the mountainon the eastof Bethel,and pitchedhis tent,with Bethelon the westand Aion the east;and therehe builtan altarto the LORDand calledupon the nameof the LORD.
He calledthe nameof that placeBethel;however,previouslythe nameof the cityhad been Luz.
Then allthe peopleof warwho[were] with him wentup and drewnearand arrivedin frontof the city,and campedon the northsideof Ai.Now [there was] a valleybetweenhim and Ai.
So they stationedthe people,allthe armythat was on the northsideof the city,and its rearguardon the westsideof the city,and Joshuaspentthat nightin the midstof the valley.
Likewise the houseof Josephwentup against Bethel,and the LORDwas with them.
Saulcameto the cityof Amalekand setan ambushin the valley.
