The sonsof Reubenand the sonsof Gadand the half-tribeof Manassehcrossedoverin battlearraybeforethe sonsof Israel,justas Moseshad spokento them;
Hence Godledthe peoplearoundby the wayof the wildernessto the RedSea;and the sonsof Israelwentup in martialarrayfrom the landof Egypt.
Of the sonsof Gad,their genealogicalregistrationby their families,by their fathers'households,according to the numberof names,from twentyyearsoldand upward,whoever[was able to] goout to war,
but we ourselveswill be armedready[to go] beforethe sonsof Israel,untilwe have broughtthem to their place,while our littleoneslivein the fortifiedcitiesbecauseof the inhabitantsof the land.
