So the LORDgaveIsraelallthe landwhichHe had swornto giveto their fathers,and they possessedit and livedin it.
The LORDappearedto Abramand said,"To your descendantsI will givethisland."So he builtan altarthereto the LORDwho had appearedto him.
for allthe landwhichyou see,I will giveit to you and to your descendantsforever.
"May He also giveyou the blessingof Abraham,to you and to your descendantswith you, that you may possessthe landof your sojournings,whichGodgaveto Abraham."
"They have livedin it, and have builtYou a sanctuarythere for Your name,saying,
"So their sonsenteredand possessedthe land.And You subduedbeforethem the inhabitantsof the land,the Canaanites,And You gavethem into their hand,with their kingsand the peoplesof the land,To dowith them as they desired.
"You foundhis heartfaithfulbeforeYou, And madea covenantwith him To give[him] the landof the Canaanite,Of the Hittiteand the Amorite,Of the Perizzite,the Jebusiteand the Girgashite--To give[it] to his descendants.And You have fulfilledYour promise,For You are righteous.
He has rememberedHis covenantforever,The wordwhich He commandedto a thousandgenerations,
For by their own swordthey did not possessthe land,And their own armdid not savethem, But Your righthandand Your armand the lightof Your presence,For You favoredthem.
He also droveout the nationsbeforethem And apportionedthem for an inheritanceby measurement,And made the tribesof Israeldwellin their tents.
"So I have comedownto deliverthem from the powerof the Egyptians,and to bringthem up from that landto a goodand spaciousland,to a landflowingwith milkand honey,to the placeof the Canaaniteand the Hittiteand the Amoriteand the Perizziteand the Hiviteand the Jebusite.
They camein and tookpossessionof it, but they did not obeyYour voiceor walkin Your law;they have donenothingof allthat You commandedthem to do;therefore You have made allthiscalamitycomeupon them.
and you shall takepossessionof the landand livein it, for I have giventhe landto you to possessit.
"Commandthe sonsof Israeland sayto them, 'Whenyou enterthe landof Canaan,thisis the landthat shall fallto you as an inheritance,[even the] landof Canaanaccording to its borders.
"For you are about to crossthe Jordanto goin to possessthe landwhichthe LORDyour Godis givingyou, and you shall possessit and livein it,
"Whenthe LORDyour Godcutsoffbeforeyou the nationswhichyou are goingin to dispossess,and you dispossessthem and dwellin their land,
"Whenyou enterthe landwhichthe LORDyour Godgivesyou, and you possessit and livein it, and you say,I will seta kingoverme like allthe nationswhoare aroundme,'
Then the LORDsaidto him, "Thisis the landwhichI sworeto Abraham,Isaac,and Jacob,saying,'I will giveit to your descendants;I have let you see[it] with your eyes,but you shall not gooverthere."
"Be strongand courageous,for you shall givethispeoplepossessionof the landwhichI sworeto their fathersto givethem.
Thesecitieseachhadits surroundingpasturelands;thus[it was] with allthesecities.
Do you not possesswhatChemoshyour godgivesyou to possess?So whateverthe LORDour Godhas drivenout beforeus, we will possessit.
"WhenJacobwentinto Egyptand your fatherscriedout to the LORD,then the LORDsentMosesand Aaronwho broughtyour fathersout of Egyptand settledthem in thisplace.
