Heshbon,and allits citieswhichare on the plain:Dibonand Bamoth-baaland Beth-baal-meon,
and Belathe sonof Azaz,the sonof Shema,the sonof Joel,wholivedin Aroer,even to Neboand Baal-meon.
Now as for the villageswith their fields,someof the sonsof Judahlivedin Kiriath-arbaand its towns,in Dibonand its towns,and in Jekabzeeland its villages,
"Comedownfrom your gloryAnd siton the parchedground,O daughterdwellingin Dibon,For the destroyerof Moabhas comeup against you, He has ruinedyour strongholds.
"Judgmenthas also comeupon the plain,upon Holon,Jahzahand againstMephaath,
againstKiriathaim,Beth-gamuland Beth-meon,
"A destroyerwill cometo everycity,So that nocitywill escape;The valleyalso will be ruinedAnd the plateauwill be destroyed,As the LORDhas said.
therefore,behold,I am going to deprivethe flankof Moabof [its] cities,of its citieswhich are on its frontiers,the gloryof the land,Beth-jeshimoth,Baal-meonand Kiriathaim,
and from Mattanahto Nahaliel,and from Nahalielto Bamoth,
For Heshbonwas the cityof Sihon,kingof the Amorites,whohad foughtagainst the formerkingof Moaband had takenallhis landout of his hand,as faras the Arnon.
"But we have castthem down,Heshbonis ruinedas faras Dibon,Then we have laidwasteevento Nophah,Which[reaches] to Medeba."
Then it cameabout in the morningthat BalaktookBalaamand broughthim up to the highplacesof Baal,and he sawfrom therea portionof the people.
and Neboand Baal-meon--[their] namesbeing changed--and Sibmah,and they gave[other] namesto the citieswhichthey built.
Their territorywas from Aroer,whichis on the edgeof the valleyof the Arnon,with the citywhichis in the middleof the valleyand allthe plainby Medeba;
and Jahazand Kedemothand Mephaath,
For Moseshad giventhe inheritanceof the twotribesand the half-tribebeyondthe Jordan;but he did not givean inheritanceto the Levitesamongthem.

While Israellivedin Heshbonand its villages,and in Aroerand its villages,and in allthe citiesthat are on the banksof the Arnon,threehundredyears,whydid you not recoverthem within that time?
