He causes the grassto growfor the cattle,And vegetationfor the laborof man,So that he may bringforthfoodfrom the earth,
Your righteousnessis like the mountainsof God;Your judgmentsare [like] a greatdeep.O LORD,You preservemanand beast.
"Comenow,and let us reasontogether," Saysthe LORD,"Thoughyour sinsare as scarlet,They will be as whiteas snow;Thoughthey are redlike crimson,They will be like wool.
So Sennacheribkingof Assyriadepartedand returned[home] and livedat Nineveh.
"For beforethe boywill know[enough] to refuseeviland choosegood,the landwhosetwokingsyou dreadwill be forsaken.
"Arise,goto Ninevehthe greatcityand cryagainstit, for their wickednesshas comeup beforeMe."
When Godsawtheir deeds,that they turnedfrom their wickedway,then Godrelentedconcerningthe calamitywhichHe had declaredHe would bringupon them. And He did not do[it].
Then the LORDsaid,"You hadcompassionon the plantfor whichyou did not workand [which] you did not cause to grow,whichcameup overnightand perishedovernight.
Shouldyou not alsohave hadmercyon your fellow slave,in the same waythat I had mercyon you?'
Moreover, your littleoneswhoyou saidwould becomea prey,and your sons,whothis dayhavenoknowledgeof goodor evil,shall enterthere,and I will giveit to them and they shall possessit.
