Now Absalomhappened to meetthe servantsof David.For Absalomwas ridingon [his] mule,and the mulewentunderthe thickbranchesof a greatoak.And his headcaughtfastin the oak,so he was lefthangingbetweenheavenand earth,while the mulethat was underhim kept going.
"Drawme afteryou [and] let us run[together]! The kinghas broughtme into his chambers.""We will rejoicein you and be glad;We will extolyour lovemorethanwine.Rightlydo they loveyou."
Then in that dayThe nationswill resortto the rootof Jesse,Whowill standas a signalfor the peoples;And His restingplacewill be glorious.
He says,"It is toosmalla thingthat You should be My ServantTo raiseup the tribesof Jacoband to restorethe preservedones of Israel;I will also makeYou a lightof the nationsSo that My salvationmay reachto the endof the earth."
I ledthem with cordsof a man,with bondsof love,And I becameto them as one who liftsthe yokefrom their jaws;And I bentdown[and] fedthem.
And Mosesmadea bronzeserpentand setit on the standard;and it cameabout, that ifa serpentbitanyman,when he lookedto the bronzeserpent,he lived.
He cameas a witness,to testifyaboutthe Light,sothat allmight believethroughhim.
The crowdthenansweredHim, "We have heardout of the Lawthat the Christis to remainforever;and howcan You say,The Sonof Manmustbe liftedup'? Whois thisSonof Man?"
to fulfillthe wordof JesuswhichHe spoke,signifyingby what kindof deathHe was aboutto die.
They tookJesus,therefore,and He wentout, bearingHis owncross,to the place calledthe Placeof a Skull,whichis calledin Hebrew,Golgotha.
"As Mosesliftedup the serpentin the wilderness,even somustthe Sonof Manbe liftedup;
"No onecancometo Me unlessthe Fatherwho sentMe drawshim; and I will raisehim up on the lastday.
SoJesussaid,"Whenyou liftup the Sonof Man,thenyou will knowthat I am[He], and I donothingon My own initiative,but I speakthese thingsas the FathertaughtMe.
Christredeemedus from the curseof the Law,having becomea cursefor us-- for it is written,"CURSEDIS EVERYONEWHO HANGSON A TREE"--
who gaveHimselfas a ransomfor all,the testimony[given] at the propertime.
But we do seeHim who was madefor a little whilelowerthanthe angels,[namely], Jesus,becauseof the sufferingof deathcrownedwith gloryand honor,sothat by the graceof GodHe might tastedeathfor everyone.
and He Himselfboreour sinsin His bodyon the cross,sothat we might dieto sinand liveto righteousness;for by His woundsyou were healed.
For Christalsodiedfor sinsonce for all,[the] justfor [the] unjust,sothat He might bringus to God,having been put to deathin the flesh,but made alivein the spirit;
and He Himselfis the propitiationfor our sins;and not for oursonly,but alsofor [those of] the wholeworld.
And they sanga newsong,saying,"Worthyare You to takethe bookand to breakits seals;for You were slain,and purchasedfor Godwith Your blood[men] from everytribeand tongueand peopleand nation.
