ThereforeJesusno longercontinued to walkpubliclyamongthe Jews,but went awayfrom thereto the countrynearthe wilderness,into a citycalledEphraim;and thereHe stayedwith the disciples.
Now it cameabout after two fullyearsthat Absalomhadsheepshearersin Baal-hazor,whichis nearEphraim,and Absalominvitedallthe king'ssons.
AbijahpursuedJeroboamand capturedfrom him [several] cities,Bethelwith its villages,Jeshanahwith its villagesand Ephronwith its villages.
And He went awayagainbeyondthe Jordanto the placewhereJohnwas firstbaptizing,and He was stayingthere.
Jesusansweredhim, "I have spokenopenlyto the world;I alwaystaughtin synagoguesand in the temple,whereallthe Jewscome together;and I spokenothingin secret.
Afterthese thingsJesuswas walkingin Galilee,for He was unwillingto walkin Judeabecausethe Jewswere seekingto killHim.
But whenHis brothershad goneup to the feast,thenHe Himselfalsowentup, not publicly,but as if,in secret.
Yetno onewas speakingopenlyof Him for fearof the Jews.
"For no onedoesanythingin secretwhenhe himselfseeksto be [known] publicly.IfYou dothese things,showYourselfto the world."
