"Surelyeverymanwalksabout as a phantom;Surelythey makean uproarfor nothing;He amasses[riches] and does not knowwhowill gatherthem.
Manyare saying,"Whowill showus [any] good?"Liftup the lightof Your countenanceupon us, O LORD!
Rememberthis,O LORD,that the enemyhas reviled,And a foolishpeoplehas spurnedYour name.
Arise,O God,[and] pleadYour own cause;Rememberhow the foolishmanreproachesYou alldaylong.
Thus He rememberedthat they were but flesh,A windthat passesand does not return.
Rememberwhatmy spanof lifeis; For whatvanityYou have createdallthe sonsof men!
Remember,O Lord,the reproachof Your servants;How I bearin my bosom[the reproach of] allthe manypeoples,
You who know,O LORD,Rememberme, takenoticeof me, And takevengeancefor me on my persecutors.Do not, in view of Your patience,takeme away; Knowthat for Your sakeI endurereproach.
Yetyou do not knowwhatyour lifewill be like tomorrow.You are [just] a vaporthat appearsfor a little whileand thenvanishes away.
