"I will sayto God,Do not condemnme; Let me knowwhyYou contendwith me.
"But I would speakto the Almighty,And I desireto arguewith God.
"I would present[my] casebeforeHim And fillmy mouthwith arguments.
"As Godlives,who has takenawaymy right,And the Almighty,who has embitteredmy soul,
"Whyis lightgivento him whosuffers,And lifeto the bitterof soul,
"[Why is light given] to a manwhosewayis hidden,And whom Godhas hedgedin?
"You have becomecruelto me; With the mightof Your handYou persecuteme.
"Ohthat I hadone to hearme! Behold,hereis my signature;Let the Almightyanswerme! And the indictmentwhich my adversaryhas written,
"Whydo you complainagainstHim That He does not givean accountof allHis doings?
"Nowgirdup your loinslike a man,And I will askyou, and you instructMe!
Then the LORDsaidto Job,
Then Jobansweredthe LORDand said,
"Am I the sea,orthe seamonster,That You seta guardoverme?
"Ifone wishedto disputewith Him, He could not answerHim oncein a thousand[times].
Whateverexistshas alreadybeen named,and it is knownwhatmanis; for he cannotdisputewith him whois strongerthanhe is.
With whomdid He consultand [who] gaveHim understanding?And [who] taughtHim in the pathof justiceand taughtHim knowledgeAnd informedHim of the wayof understanding?
He who vindicatesMe is near;Whowill contendwith Me? Let us standup to eachother;Whohas a caseagainst Me? Let him drawnearto Me.
"I seta snarefor you and you were alsocaught,O Babylon,While you yourselfwere not aware;You have been foundand alsoseizedBecauseyou have engagedin conflictwith the LORD."
"Whatdo you mean by usingthisproverbconcerningthe landof Israel,saying,The fatherseatthe sourgrapes,But the children'steethare seton edge'?
"When they receivedit, they grumbledat the landowner,
Ordo we provokethe Lordto jealousy?We are not strongerthan He, are we?
For WHOHAS KNOWNTHE MINDOF THE LORD,THAT HE WILL INSTRUCTHIM? But we havethe mindof Christ.
