Now when Job'sthreefriendsheardof allthisadversitythat had comeupon him, they cameeachonefrom his own place,Eliphazthe Temanite,Bildadthe Shuhiteand Zopharthe Naamathite;and they madean appointmenttogetherto cometo sympathizewith him and comforthim.
She boreto him Zimranand Jokshanand Medanand Midianand Ishbakand Shuah.
The sonsof Eliphazwere Teman,Omar,Zephoand Gatamand Kenaz.
Theseare the chiefsof the sonsof Esau.The sonsof Eliphaz,the firstbornof Esau,are chiefTeman,chiefOmar,chiefZepho,chiefKenaz,
Then Jobabdied,and Hushamof the landof the Temanitesbecamekingin his place.
Then allhis sonsand allhis daughtersaroseto comforthim, but he refusedto be comforted.And he said,"SurelyI will godownto Sheolin mourningfor my son."So his fatherweptfor him.
The sonsof Keturah,Abraham'sconcubine,[whom] she bore,[were] Zimran,Jokshan,Medan,Midian,Ishbakand Shuah.And the sonsof Jokshan[were] Shebaand Dedan.
When Jobabdied,Hushamof the landof the Temanitesbecamekingin his place.
Their fatherEphraimmournedmanydays,and his relativescameto comforthim.
Then Zopharthe Naamathiteanswered,
"But you smearwith lies;You are allworthlessphysicians.
Then Eliphazthe Temaniteresponded,
"I have heardmanysuchthings;Sorrycomfortersare you all.
"My friendsare my scoffers;My eyeweepsto God.
Then Bildadthe Shuhiteresponded,
"Allmy associatesabhorme, And thoseI lovehave turnedagainst me.
"Pityme, pityme, O you my friends,For the handof Godhas struckme.
Then Eliphazthe Temaniteanswered,
Then allhis brothersand allhis sistersand allwho had knownhim beforecameto him, and they atebreadwith him in his house;and they consoledhim and comfortedhim for allthe adversitiesthat the LORDhad broughton him. And eachonegavehim onepieceof money,and eacha ringof gold.
It cameabout afterthe LORDhad spokenthesewordsto Job,that the LORDsaidto Eliphazthe Temanite,"My wrathis kindledagainst you and against your twofriends,becauseyou have not spokenof Me what is rightas My servantJobhas.
So Eliphazthe Temaniteand Bildadthe Shuhite[and] Zopharthe Naamathitewentand didas the LORDtoldthem; and the LORDacceptedJob.
"For the despairingman[there should be] kindnessfrom his friend;So that he does not forsakethe fearof the Almighty.
"The caravansof Temalooked,The travelersof Shebahopedfor them.
Then Bildadthe Shuhiteanswered,
A friendlovesat alltimes,And a brotheris bornfor adversity.
A manof [too many] friends[comes] to ruin,But thereis a friendwhostickscloserthana brother.
Do not forsakeyour own friendor your father'sfriend,And do not goto your brother'shousein the dayof your calamity;Betteris a neighborwho is nearthana brotherfaraway.
Thesetwothingshave befallenyou; Whowill mournfor you? The devastationand destruction,famineand sword;Howshall I comfortyou?
Concerning Edom.Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,"Is therenolongeranywisdomin Teman?Has good counselbeenlostto the prudent?Has their wisdomdecayed?
"Then your mightymenwill be dismayed,O Teman,So that everyonemay be cutofffrom the mountainof Esauby slaughter.
and manyof the Jewshad cometo Marthaand Mary,to consolethem concerning[their] brother.
Rejoicewith those who rejoice,and weepwith those who weep.
And ifonemembersuffers,allthe memberssufferwith it; if[one] memberis honored,allthe membersrejoicewith it.
Rememberthe prisoners,as thoughin prisonwith them, [and] thosewho are ill-treated,sinceyou yourselvesalsoare in the body.
and Gederoth,Beth-dagonand Naamahand Makkedah;sixteencitieswith their villages.
