"My faceis flushedfrom weeping,And deepdarknessis on my eyelids,
"My friendsare my scoffers; My eyeweepsto God.
"My eyehas also growndimbecauseof grief,And allmy membersare as a shadow.
"For the morningis the sameto him as thickdarkness,For he is familiarwith the terrorsof thickdarkness.
For I have eatenasheslike breadAnd mingledmy drinkwith weeping
The cordsof deathencompassedme And the terrorsof Sheolcameupon me; I founddistressand sorrow.
Be graciousto me, O LORD,for I am in distress; My eyeis wastedawayfrom grief,my souland my body[also].
WhenI keptsilent[about my sin], my bodywastedawayThrough my groaningalldaylong.
I am wearywith my crying;my throatis parched; My eyesfailwhile I waitfor my God.
Justas manywere astonishedat you, [My people], SoHis appearancewas marredmorethananymanAnd His formmorethanthe sonsof men.
"For thesethingsI weep;My eyesrundownwith water;Becausefarfrom me is a comforter,One who restoresmy soul.My childrenare desolateBecausethe enemyhas prevailed."
And He saidto them, "My soulis deeply grievedto the pointof death;remainhereand keep watch."
