"Behold,one will comeup like a lionfrom the thicketof the Jordanto a perenniallywatered pasture;for in an instantI will make them runawayfrom it, and whoeveris chosenI will appointoverit. For whois likeMe, and whowill summonMe [into court]? And whothenis the shepherdwhocan standbeforeMe?"
For whoin the skiesis comparableto the LORD?Who among the sonsof the mightyis likethe LORD,
O LORDGodof hosts,whois likeYou, O mightyLORD?Your faithfulnessalso surroundsYou.
"Whois likeYou among the gods,O LORD?Whois likeYou, majesticin holiness,Awesomein praises,workingwonders?
To whomthen will you likenGod?Or whatlikenesswill you comparewith Him?
"To whomthen will you likenMe That I would be [his] equal?"saysthe HolyOne.
"I have arousedone from the north,and he has come;From the risingof the sunhe will callon My name;And he will comeupon rulersas [upon] mortar,Even as the pottertreadsclay."
"You are My witnesses,"declaresthe LORD,"And My servantwhomI have chosen,So that you may knowand believeMe And understandthat I am He. BeforeMe there was noGodformed,And there will be noneafterMe.
Callinga birdof preyfrom the east,The manof My purposefrom a farcountry.TrulyI have spoken;trulyI will bringit to pass.I have planned[it, surely] I will doit.
"Rememberthe formerthingslongpast,For I am God,and thereis noother;[I am] God,and there is noonelikeMe,
"Assemble,allof you, and listen!Whoamong them has declaredthesethings?The LORDloveshim; he will carryout His goodpleasureon Babylon,And His arm[will be against] the Chaldeans.
"Ifyou have runwith footmenand they have tiredyou out, Then howcan you competewith horses?If you falldownin a landof peace,Howwill you doin the thicketof the Jordan?
"He has leftHis hidingplacelike the lion;For their landhas becomea horrorBecauseof the fiercenessof the oppressing[sword] And becauseof His fierceanger."
Their leadershall be one of them, And their rulershall comeforthfrom their midst;And I will bringhim nearand he shall approachMe; For whowould dareto riskhis lifeto approachMe?' declaresthe LORD.
"Raiseyour battlecryagainsther on everyside!She has givenherselfup, her pillarshave fallen,Her wallshave been torndown.For thisis the vengeanceof the LORD:Takevengeanceon her; As she has done[to others, so] doto her.
There is a soundof the shepherds'wail,For their gloryis ruined;There is a soundof the younglions'roar,For the prideof the Jordanis ruined.
and he spoketo Korahand allhis company,saying,"Tomorrowmorningthe LORDwill showwhois His, and who is holy,and will bring[him] nearto Himself; even the one whomHe will choose,He will bringnearto Himself.
