Then allthe officialscameto Jeremiahand questionedhim. So he reportedto them in accordance with allthesewordswhichthe kinghad commanded;and they ceasedspeakingwith him, sincethe conversationhad not been overheard.
Then Elishasaidto them, "Thisis not the way,noris thisthe city;followme and I will bringyou to the manwhomyou seek."And he broughtthem to Samaria.
"But ifthe officialshearthat I have talkedwith you and cometo you and sayto you, 'Tellus nowwhatyou saidto the kingand whatthe kingsaidto you; do not hide[it] from us and we will not putyou to death,'
then you are to sayto them, 'I was presentingmy petitionbeforethe king,not to make me returnto the houseof Jonathanto diethere.'"
So Jeremiahstayedin the courtof the guardhouseuntilthe daythat Jerusalemwas captured.
But perceivingthat onegroupwere Sadduceesand the otherPharisees,Paul[began] cryingout in the Council,"Brethren,I ama Pharisee,a sonof Pharisees;I am on trialfor the hopeand resurrectionof the dead!"
