Then the kingsaidto him, "Howmanytimesmust I adjureyou to speakto me nothingbut the truthin the nameof the LORD?"
A trustworthywitnesswill not lie,But a false witnessutterslies.
O my threshed[people], and my afflictedof the threshingfloor!WhatI have heardfrom the LORDof hosts,The Godof Israel,I makeknownto you.
"I have heardwhatthe prophetshave saidwho prophesyfalselyin My name,saying,'I hada dream,I hada dream!'
Then Jeremiahthe prophetsaidto them, "I have heard[you]. Behold,I am going to prayto the LORDyour Godin accordance with your words;and I will tellyou the wholemessagewhichthe LORDwill answeryou. I will not keepbacka wordfrom you."
Whois the wisemanthat may understandthis?And [who is] he to whomthe mouthof the LORDhas spoken,that he may declareit? Whyis the landruined,laidwastelike a desert,sothat noonepassesthrough?
Nowhearthe wordof the LORD,O you women,And let your earreceivethe wordof His mouth;Teachyour daughterswailing,And everyoneher neighbora dirge.
Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Woeto the foolishprophetswhoare followingtheir own spiritand have seennothing.
"Whothenis the faithfuland sensibleslavewhomhis masterput in chargeof his householdto givethem their foodat the proper time?
And the Lordsaid,"Whothenis the faithfuland sensiblesteward,whomhis masterwill put in chargeof his servants,to givethem their rationsat the proper time?
In this case,moreover,it is requiredof stewardsthat onebe foundtrustworthy.
For we are not likemany,peddlingthe wordof God,but as from sincerity,but as from God,we speakin Christin the sightof God.
