The LORDhas lookeddownfrom heavenupon the sonsof menTo seeif thereare anywho understand,Who seekafter God.
A senselessmanhasnoknowledge,Nordoes a stupidmanunderstandthis:
Payheed,you senselessamong the people;And whenwill you understand,stupidones?
Let allthose be ashamedwho servegravenimages,Who boastthemselves of idols;WorshipHim, allyou gods.
SurelyI am morestupidthananyman,And I do not have the understandingof a man.
They will be turnedback[and] be utterlyputto shame,Who trustin idols,Who sayto moltenimages,"You are our gods."
Behold,allhis companionswill be putto shame,for the craftsmenthemselvesare meremen.Let them allassemblethemselves, let them standup, let them tremble,let them togetherbe putto shame.
They will be putto shameand evenhumiliated,allof them; The manufacturersof idolswill goaway togetherin humiliation.
"I will declareyour righteousnessand your deeds,But they will not profityou.
"Like a scarecrowin a cucumberfieldare they, And they cannotspeak;They mustbe carried,Becausethey cannotwalk!Do not fearthem, For they can donoharm,Norcan they doanygood."
But they are altogetherstupidand foolish[In their] disciplineof delusion--their idol is wood!
For they exchangedthe truthof Godfor a lie,and worshipedand servedthe creaturerather thanthe Creator,whois blessedforever.Amen.
But when they aroseearlythe nextmorning,behold,Dagonhad fallenon his faceto the groundbeforethe arkof the LORD.And the headof Dagonand boththe palmsof his hands[were] cutoffon the threshold;onlythe trunk of Dagonwas leftto him.
