Then Hezekiahtookthe letterfrom the handof the messengersand readit, and he wentup to the houseof the LORDand spreadit out beforethe LORD.
whateverprayeror supplicationis madeby anyman[or] by allYour peopleIsrael,eachknowingthe afflictionof his own heart,and spreadinghis handstowardthishouse;
The LORDsaidto him, "I have heardyour prayerand your supplication,whichyou have madebeforeMe; I have consecratedthishousewhichyou have builtby puttingMy namethereforever,and My eyesand My heartwill be thereperpetually.
Hezekiahprayedbeforethe LORDand said,"O LORD,the Godof Israel,who are enthroned[above] the cherubim,You are the God,You alone,of allthe kingdomsof the earth.You have madeheavenand earth.
I stretchout my handsto You; My soul[longs] for You, as a parchedland.Selah.
For in the dayof troubleHe will concealme in His tabernacle;In the secretplaceof His tentHe will hideme; He will liftme up on a rock.
Howlong,O God,will the adversaryrevile,[And] the enemyspurnYour nameforever?
And when KingHezekiahheard[it], he torehis clothes,coveredhimself with sackclothand enteredthe houseof the LORD.
Whereis the kingof Hamath,the kingof Arpad,the kingof the cityof Sepharvaim,[and of] Henaand Ivvah?'"
