Israelhas rejectedthe good;The enemywill pursuehim.
The wordsof his mouthare wickednessand deceit;He has ceasedto be wise[and] to dogood.
You will pursuethem in angerand destroythem From underthe heavensof the LORD!
Our pursuerswere swifterThanthe eaglesof the sky;They chasedus on the mountains,They waitedin ambushfor us in the wilderness.
They cryout to Me, "My God,we of IsraelknowYou!"
They have setup kings,but not by Me; They have appointedprinces,but I did not know[it]. With their silverand goldthey have madeidolsfor themselves, That they might be cutoff.
As for those of you who may be left,I will also bringweaknessinto their heartsin the landsof their enemies.And the soundof a drivenleafwill chasethem, and even when noone is pursuingthey will fleeas thoughfrom the sword,and they will fall.
Thussaysthe LORD,"For threetransgressionsof Edomand for fourI will not revokeits [punishment], Becausehe pursuedhis brotherwith the sword,While he stifledhis compassion;His angeralso torecontinually,And he maintainedhis furyforever.
"The LORDshall causeyou to be defeatedbeforeyour enemies;you will goout onewayagainstthem, but you will fleesevenwaysbeforethem, and you will be [an example of] terrorto allthe kingdomsof the earth.
[thus] incurringcondemnation,becausethey have set asidetheir previouspledge.
