AlthoughHe was a Son,He learnedobediencefrom the things whichHe suffered.
But He was piercedthroughfor our transgressions,He was crushedfor our iniquities;The chasteningfor our well-being[fell] upon Him, And by His scourgingwe are healed.
But Jesusansweringsaidto him, "Permit[it] at this time;for in this wayit is fittingfor us to fulfillallrighteousness."Thenhe permittedHim.
"No onehas taken it awayfrom Me, but I layit downon My own initiative.I haveauthorityto lay it down,and I haveauthorityto takeit up again.ThiscommandmentI receivedfrom My Father."
"Ifyou keepMy commandments,you will abidein My love;justas I have keptMy Father'scommandmentsand abidein His love.
Jesussaidto them, "My foodis to dothe willof Him who sentMe and to accomplishHis work.
"For I have come downfrom heaven,not to doMy ownwill,but the willof Him who sentMe.
Being foundin appearanceas a man,He humbledHimselfby becomingobedientto the pointof death,evendeathon a cross.
in theselastdayshas spokento us in His Son,whomHe appointedheirof all things,throughwhomalsoHe madethe world.
For to whichof the angelsdid He eversay,"YOU ARE MY SON,TODAYI HAVE BEGOTTENYOU"? And again,"I WILL BE A FATHERTO HIM AND HE SHALL BE A SONTO ME"?
But of the Son[He says], "YOUR THRONE,O GOD,IS FOREVERAND EVER,AND THE RIGHTEOUSSCEPTERIS THE SCEPTEROF HIS KINGDOM.
but Christ[was faithful] as a SonoverHis house--whosehousewe are, ifwe hold fastour confidenceand the boastof our hopefirmuntilthe end.
