SoalsoChristdid not glorifyHimselfso as to becomea high priest,but He whosaidto Him, "YOU ARE MY SON,TODAYI HAVE BEGOTTENYOU";

"But as for you, BethlehemEphrathah,[Too] littleto be among the clansof Judah,From you One will goforthfor Me to be rulerin Israel.His goingsforthare from longago,From the daysof eternity."
"For Godsolovedthe world,that He gaveHis only begottenSon,that whoeverbelievesin Him shall not perish,but haveeternallife.
"He who speaksfrom himselfseekshis ownglory;but He who is seekingthe gloryof the One who sentHim, He is true,and there is nounrighteousnessin Him.
Jesusanswered,"IfI glorifyMyself,My gloryis nothing;it is My Fatherwho glorifiesMe, of whomyou say,'He is our God';
that Godhas fulfilledthis[promise] to our childrenin that He raisedup Jesus,as it is alsowrittenin the secondPsalm,YOU ARE MY SON;TODAYI HAVE BEGOTTENYOU.'
For whatthe Lawcouldnot do, weakas it was throughthe flesh,God[did]: sendingHis ownSonin the likenessof sinfulfleshand [as an offering] for sin,He condemnedsinin the flesh,
God,after He spokelong agoto the fathersin the prophetsin many portionsand in many ways,
For to whichof the angelsdid He eversay,"YOU ARE MY SON,TODAYI HAVE BEGOTTENYOU"? And again,"I WILL BE A FATHERTO HIM AND HE SHALL BE A SONTO ME"?
Therefore,He hadto be made likeHis brethrenin all things,sothat He might becomea mercifuland faithfulhigh priestin things pertainingto God,to make propitiationfor the sinsof the people.
Therefore,holybrethren,partakersof a heavenlycalling,considerJesus,the Apostleand High Priestof our confession;
being designatedby Godas a high priestaccordingto the orderof Melchizedek.
