And whatmoreshall I say?For timewill failme if I tellof Gideon,Barak,Samson,Jephthah,of Davidand Samueland the prophets,
Mosesand Aaronwere among His priests,And Samuelwas among those who calledon His name;They calledupon the LORDand He answeredthem.
Then the LORDsaidto me, "Even thoughMosesand Samuelwere to standbeforeMe, My heartwould not be with thispeople;sendthem awayfrom My presenceand let them go!
"Rejoiceand be glad,for your rewardin heavenis great;for in the same waythey persecutedthe prophetswho were beforeyou.
"In that placetherewill be weepingand gnashingof teethwhenyou seeAbrahamand Isaacand Jacoband allthe prophetsin the kingdomof God,but yourselvesbeing thrownout.
"But he saidto him, 'Ifthey do not listento Mosesand the Prophets,they will not be persuadedevenifsomeonerisesfrom the dead.'"
And there are alsomanyotherthingswhichJesusdid,whichifthey were writtenin detail,I supposethat eventhe worlditselfwould not containthe booksthat would be written.
"Of Him allthe prophetsbear witnessthat throughHis nameeveryonewho believesin Him receivesforgivenessof sins."
"Afterthese thingsHe gave[them] judgesuntilSamuelthe prophet.
"And likewise,allthe prophetswhohave spoken,from Samueland [his] successors onward,alsoannouncedthesedays.
But ifour unrighteousnessdemonstratesthe righteousnessof God,whatshall we say?The Godwho inflictswrathis not unrighteous,is He? (I am speakingin humanterms.)
Whatthenshall we saythat Abraham,our forefatheraccordingto the flesh,has found?
Whatshall we saythen?Are we to continuein sinsothat gracemay increase?
Whatshall we saythen?Is the Lawsin?May it neverbe! On the contrary,I would not have come to knowsinexceptthroughthe Law;for I would not have known aboutcovetingifthe Lawhad not said,"YOU SHALL NOT COVET."
As an example,brethren,of sufferingand patience,takethe prophetswhospokein the nameof the Lord.
for noprophecywas evermadeby an act of humanwill,but menmovedby the HolySpiritspokefrom God.
that you should rememberthe wordsspoken beforehandby the holyprophetsand the commandmentof the Lordand Savior[spoken] by your apostles.
Then the womangavebirthto a sonand namedhim Samson;and the childgrewup and the LORDblessedhim.
So he judgedIsraeltwentyyearsin the daysof the Philistines.
Then the sonsof Israelagaindidevilin the sightof the LORD,after Ehuddied.
Then the sonsof Israeldidwhatwas evilin the sightof the LORD;and the LORDgavethem into the handsof Midiansevenyears.
Then the angelof the LORDcameand satunderthe oakthat was in Ophrah,whichbelonged to Joashthe Abiezriteas his sonGideonwas beatingout wheatin the winepressin order to save[it] from the Midianites.
The LORDlookedat him and said,"Goin thisyour strengthand deliverIsraelfrom the handof Midian.Have I not sentyou?"
It cameabout in duetime,after Hannahhad conceived,that she gavebirthto a son;and she namedhim Samuel,[saying], "BecauseI have askedhim of the LORD."
"Then the LORDsentJerubbaaland Bedanand Jephthahand Samuel,and deliveredyou from the handsof your enemiesallaround,so that you livedin security.
Now the LORDsaidto Samuel,"Howlongwill you grieveoverSaul,since I have rejectedhim from beingkingoverIsrael?Fillyour hornwith oiland go;I will sendyou to Jessethe Bethlehemite,for I have selecteda kingfor Myself among his sons."
Then Samueltookthe hornof oiland anointedhim in the midstof his brothers;and the Spiritof the LORDcamemightilyupon Davidfrom that dayforward.And Samuelaroseand wentto Ramah.
Then Davidsaidto the Philistine,"You cometo me with a sword,a spear,and a javelin,but I cometo you in the nameof the LORDof hosts,the Godof the armiesof Israel,whomyou have taunted.
Then Elkanahwentto his homeat Ramah.But the boyministeredto the LORDbeforeElithe priest.
Now Samuelwas ministeringbeforethe LORD,[as] a boywearinga linenephod.
"The bowsof the mightyare shattered,But the feeblegirdon strength.
