So they said,"You have savedour lives!Let us findfavorin the sightof my lord,and we will be Pharaoh'sslaves."
and said,"My lord,ifnowI have foundfavorin your sight,pleasedo not passyour servantby.
The messengersreturnedto Jacob,saying,"We cameto your brotherEsau,and furthermorehe is comingto meetyou, and fourhundredmenare with him."
Esausaid,"Pleaselet me leavewith you someof the peoplewhoare with me." But he said,"Whatneed is there? Let me findfavorin the sightof my lord."
Then PharaohnamedJosephZaphenath-paneah;and he gavehim Asenath,the daughterof Potipherapriestof On,as his wife.And Josephwentforthoverthe landof Egypt.
"At the harvestyou shall givea fifthto Pharaoh,and four-fifthsshall be your own for seedof the fieldand for your foodand for those of your householdsand as foodfor your littleones."
Josephmadeit a statuteconcerningthe landof Egypt[valid] to thisday,that Pharaohshould have the fifth;onlythe landof the priestsdid not becomePharaoh's.
"As for you, you meantevilagainstme, [but] Godmeantit for goodin orderto bringaboutthispresentresult, to preservemanypeoplealive.
"And of everylivingthingof allflesh,you shall bringtwoof every[kind] into the ark,to keep[them] alivewith you; they shall be maleand female.
Then she said,"I have foundfavorin your sight,my lord,for you have comfortedme and indeedhave spokenkindlyto your maidservant,though I amnot like oneof your maidservants."
