They toldhim, saying,"Josephis stillalive,and indeedhe is rulerover allthe landof Egypt."But he was stunned,for he did not believethem.
and the onewentout from me, and I said,"Surelyhe is tornin pieces,"and I have not seenhim since.
Then allhis sonsand allhis daughtersaroseto comforthim, but he refusedto be comforted.And he said,"SurelyI will godownto Sheolin mourningfor my son."So his fatherweptfor him.
While they stillcould not believe[it] becauseof their joyand amazement,He saidto them, "Haveyou anythinghereto eat?"
saying,"The Lordhas reallyrisenand has appearedto Simon."
But thesewordsappearedto them as nonsense,and they would not believethem.
"While I was faintingaway,I rememberedthe LORD,And my prayercameto You, Into Your holytemple.
When the LORDbroughtbackthe captiveones of Zion,We were like those who dream.
He madehim lordof his houseAnd rulerover allhis possessions,
"I smiledon them when they did not believe,And the lightof my facethey did not castdown.
"IfI calledand He answeredme, I could not believethat He was listeningto my voice.
But Jacob said,"My sonshall not godownwith you; for his brotheris dead,and he aloneis left.If harmshould befallhim on the journeyyou are taking,then you will bringmy grayhairdownto Sheolin sorrow."
Their fatherJacobsaidto them, "You have bereavedme of my children:Josephis nomore,and Simeonis nomore,and you would takeBenjamin;allthese things are againstme."
So they tookJoseph'stunic,and slaughtereda malegoatand dippedthe tunicin the blood;
Then they wentup from Egypt,and cameto the landof Canaanto their fatherJacob.
When they cameto their fatherJacobin the landof Canaan,they toldhim allthat had happenedto them, saying,
Israelsaidto Joseph,"I neverexpectedto seeyour face,and behold,Godhas let me seeyour childrenas well."
