His brotherswere jealousof him, but his fatherkeptthe saying[in mind].
And he said,"Comein, blessedof the LORD!Whydo you standoutsidesince I have preparedthe house,and a placefor the camels?"
Then his brotherswentto pasturetheir father'sflockin Shechem.
Josephrememberedthe dreamswhichhe hadabout them, and saidto them, "You are spies;you have cometo lookat the undefendedpartsof our land."
When they becameenviousof Mosesin the camp,And of Aaron,the holyoneof the LORD,
I have seenthat everylaborand everyskillwhich is doneis [the result of] rivalrybetween a manand his neighbor.Thistoois vanityand strivingafter wind.
Then the jealousyof Ephraimwill depart,And those who harassJudahwill be cutoff;Ephraimwill not be jealousof Judah,And Judahwill not harassEphraim.
O LORD,Your handis liftedup [yet] they do not seeit. They see[Your] zealfor the peopleand are putto shame;Indeed,firewill devourYour enemies.
"At thispointthe revelationended.As for me, Daniel,my thoughtswere greatlyalarmingme and my facegrewpale,but I keptthe matterto myself."
For he knewthat becauseof envythey had handedHim over.
For he was awarethat the chief priestshad handedHim over becauseof envy.
But Marytreasuredallthesethings,ponderingthem in her heart.
And He went downwith them and cameto Nazareth,and He continued in subjectionto them; and His mothertreasuredall[these] thingsin her heart.
But when the Jewssawthe crowds,they were filledwith jealousyand [began] contradictingthe things spokenby Paul,and were blaspheming.
"The patriarchsbecame jealousof Josephand soldhim into Egypt.[Yet] Godwas with him,
envying,drunkenness,carousing,and things likethese,of whichI forewarnyou, justas I have forewarnedyou, that thosewho practicesuch thingswill not inheritthe kingdomof God.
For we alsooncewere foolishourselves,disobedient,deceived,enslavedto variouslustsand pleasures,spending our lifein maliceand envy,hateful,hatingone another.
Ordo you thinkthat the Scripturespeaksto no purpose:"He jealouslydesiresthe SpiritwhichHe has made to dwellin us"?
Then Saulbecameveryangry,for thissayingdispleasedhim; and he said,"They have ascribedto Davidtenthousands,but to me they have ascribedthousands.Now what morecan he have but the kingdom?"
