Then Jacobtookfreshrodsof poplarand almondand planetrees,and peeledwhitestripesin them, exposingthe whitewhich[was] in the rods.
So the flocksmatedby the rods,and the flocksbroughtforthstriped,speckled,and spotted.
Moreover, wheneverthe strongerof the flockwere mating,Jacobwould placethe rodsin the sightof the flockin the gutters,so that they might mateby the rods;
