let me passthrough your entireflocktoday,removingfrom thereeveryspeckledand spottedsheepand everyblackoneamong the lambsand the spottedand speckledamong the goats;and [such] shall be my wages.
So he said,"Whatshall I giveyou?" And Jacobsaid,"You shall not giveme anything.Ifyou will dothis[one] thingfor me, I will againpasture[and] keepyour flock:
"So my honestywill answerfor me later,whenyou comeconcerningmy wages.Everyonethat is not speckledand spottedamong the goatsand blackamong the lambs,[if found] with me, will be considered stolen."
So he removedon that daythe stripedand spottedmalegoatsand allthe speckledand spottedfemalegoats,everyonewith whitein it, and allthe blackonesamong the sheep,and gavethem into the careof his sons.
"And it cameabout at the timewhen the flockwere matingthat I liftedup my eyesand sawin a dream,and behold,the malegoatswhich were mating[were] striped,speckled,and mottled.
"Ifhe spokethus,'The speckledshall be your wages,'then allthe flockbroughtforthspeckled;and ifhe spokethus,'The stripedshall be your wages,'then allthe flockbroughtforthstriped.
