Then Isaacdugagainthe wellsof waterwhichhad been dugin the daysof his fatherAbraham,for the Philistineshad stoppedthem up afterthe deathof Abraham;and he gavethem the samenameswhichhis fatherhad giventhem.
But Abrahamcomplainedto Abimelechbecauseof the wellof waterwhichthe servantsof Abimelechhad seized.
He said,"You shall takethese sevenewelambsfrom my handsothat it may be a witnessto me, that I dugthiswell."
Thereforehe calledthat placeBeersheba,becausetherethe twoof them tookan oath.
And Isaacdepartedfrom thereand campedin the valleyof Gerar,and settledthere.
But when Isaac'sservantsdugin the valleyand foundtherea wellof flowingwater,
He builttowersin the wildernessand hewedmanycisterns,for he hadmuchlivestock,both in the lowlandand in the plain.[He also had] plowmenand vinedressersin the hillcountryand the fertilefields,for he lovedthe soil.
The sorrowsof those who have barteredfor another[god] will be multiplied;I shall not pourout their drinkofferingsof blood,Norwill I taketheir namesupon my lips.
"For I will removethe namesof the Baalsfrom her mouth,So that they will be mentionedby their namesnomore.
"It will comeabout in that day,"declaresthe LORDof hosts,"that I will cutoffthe namesof the idolsfrom the land,and they will nolongerbe remembered;and I will alsoremovethe prophetsand the uncleanspiritfrom the land.
and Neboand Baal-meon--[their] namesbeing changed--and Sibmah,and they gave[other] namesto the citieswhichthey built.
