Then Godsaid,"Let there be lightsin the expanseof the heavensto separatethe dayfrom the night,and let them be for signsand for seasonsand for daysand years;
Then Godsaid,"Let the watersteemwith swarmsof livingcreatures,and let birdsflyabovethe earthin the openexpanseof the heavens."
"By His breaththe heavensare cleared;His handhas piercedthe fleeingserpent.
"Alsowith moistureHe loadsthe thickcloud;He dispersesthe cloudof His lightning.
"Can you, with Him, spreadout the skies,Strongas a moltenmirror?
CoveringYourself with lightas with a cloak,Stretchingout heavenlike a [tent] curtain.
PraiseHim, highestheavens,And the watersthat are abovethe heavens!
Praisethe LORD!PraiseGodin His sanctuary;PraiseHim in His mightyexpanse.
The heavensare tellingof the gloryof God;And their expanseis declaringthe workof His hands.
Dayto daypoursforthspeech,And nightto nightrevealsknowledge.
By the wordof the LORDthe heavenswere made,And by the breathof His mouthalltheir host.
For He spoke,and it was done;He commanded,and it stoodfast.
Ifthe cloudsare full,they pourout rainupon the earth;and whethera treefallstoward the southor toward the north,whereverthe treefalls,thereit lies.
It is He who sitsabovethe circleof the earth,And its inhabitantsare like grasshoppers,Who stretchesout the heavenslike a curtainAnd spreadsthem out like a tentto dwellin.
But the LORDis the true God;He is the livingGodand the everlastingKing.At His wraththe earthquakes,And the nationscannotendureHis indignation.
[It is] He who madethe earthby His power,Who establishedthe worldby His wisdom,And by His understandingHe stretchedout the heavens.
The burdenof the wordof the LORDconcerningIsrael.[Thus] declaresthe LORDwho stretchesout the heavens,laysthe foundationof the earth,and formsthe spiritof manwithinhim,
For when they maintainthis,it escapes their noticethat by the wordof God[the] heavensexistedlong agoand [the] earthwas formedout of waterand by water,
