Thisis the only thingI wantto findout from you: did you receivethe Spiritby the worksof the Law,orby hearingwith faith?
"And God,who knows the heart,testifiedto them givingthem the HolySpirit,justas He alsodid to us;
Peter[said] to them, "Repent,and eachof you be baptizedin the nameof JesusChristfor the forgivenessof your sins;and you will receivethe giftof the HolySpirit.
whocame downand prayedfor them that they might receivethe HolySpirit.
For in it [the] righteousnessof Godis revealedfrom faithto faith;as it is written,"BUT THE RIGHTEOUS[man] SHALL LIVEBY FAITH."
to thosewho are withoutlaw,as withoutlaw,though not beingwithout the lawof Godbut under the lawof Christ,sothat I might winthosewho are without law.
For ifone comesand preachesanotherJesuswhomwe have not preached,oryou receivea differentspiritwhichyou have not received,ora differentgospelwhichyou have not accepted,you bear[this] beautifully.
in orderthat in ChristJesusthe blessingof Abrahammight cometo the Gentiles,sothat we would receivethe promiseof the Spiritthroughfaith.
Are you sofoolish?Having begunby the Spirit,are you nowbeing perfectedby the flesh?
So then,does He who providesyou with the Spiritand worksmiraclesamongyou, do it by the worksof the Law,orby hearingwith faith?
Godalso testifyingwith them, bothby signsand wondersand by variousmiraclesand by giftsof the HolySpiritaccordingto His own will.
For indeedwe have had good news preachedto us, justas they also;but the wordthey hearddid not profitthem, because it was not unitedby faithin thosewhoheard.
For in the case of thosewho have oncebeen enlightenedand have tastedof the heavenlygiftand have been madepartakersof the HolySpirit,
It was revealedto them that they were not servingthemselves,but you, in these thingswhichnowhave been announcedto you throughthosewho preached the gospelto you by the HolySpiritsentfrom heaven--things into whichangelslongto look.
