"A swordwill comeupon Egypt,And anguishwill be in Ethiopia;When the slainfallin Egypt,They takeaway her wealth,And her foundationsare torndown.
ThereforeMoabwill wail;everyoneof Moabwill wail.You will moanfor the raisincakesof Kir-haresethAs those whoare utterlystricken.
Alas,oh landof whirringwingsWhichlies beyondthe riversof Cush,
"So I will inciteEgyptiansagainst Egyptians;And they will eachfightagainst his brotherand eachagainst his neighbor,Cityagainst city[and] kingdomagainst kingdom.
And the LORDsaid,"Evenas My servantIsaiahhas gonenakedand barefootthreeyearsas a signand tokenagainstEgyptand Cush,
Goup, you horses,and drivemadly,you chariots,That the mightymenmay marchforward:Ethiopiaand Put,that handlethe shield,And the Lydians,that handle[and] bendthe bow.
"Raiseyour battlecryagainsther on everyside!She has givenherselfup, her pillarshave fallen,Her wallshave been torndown.For thisis the vengeanceof the LORD:Takevengeanceon her; As she has done[to others, so] doto her.
"For I will sendpestilenceto her And bloodto her streets,And the woundedwill fallin her midstBy the swordupon her on everyside;Then they will knowthat I am the LORD.
"So I will makethe landof Egypta desolationin the midstof desolatedlands.And her cities,in the midstof citiesthat are laidwaste,will be desolatefortyyears;and I will scatterthe Egyptiansamong the nationsand dispersethem among the lands."
Thereforethussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,I will givethe landof Egyptto Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon.And he will carryoffher wealthand captureher spoiland seizeher plunder;and it will be wagesfor his army.
Thereforethussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,I will bringupon you a swordand I will cutofffrom you manand beast.
Persia,Ethiopiaand Putwith them, allof them [with] shieldand helmet;
"But he will gaincontrolover the hiddentreasuresof goldand silverand over allthe preciousthingsof Egypt;and Libyansand Ethiopians[will follow] at his heels.
"You also,O Ethiopians,will be slainby My sword."
