He saidto them, "Thussaysthe LORD,the Godof Israel,'Everyman[of you] puthis swordupon his thigh,and gobackand forthfrom gateto gatein the camp,and killeverymanhis brother,and everymanhis friend,and everymanhis neighbor.'"
Then it cameabout, as soon as he had finishedofferingthe burntoffering,that Jehusaidto the guardand to the royalofficers,"Goin, killthem; let nonecomeout." And they killedthem with the edgeof the sword;and the guardand the royalofficersthrew[them] out, and wentto the innerroomof the houseof Baal.
then Mosesstoodin the gateof the camp,and said,"Whoeveris for the LORD,[come] to me!" And allthe sonsof Levigatheredtogether to him.
So the sonsof Levididas Mosesinstructed,and about threethousandmenof the peoplefellthat day.
Then Mosessaid,"Dedicateyourselvestodayto the LORD--for everymanhas been against his sonand against his brother--in order that He may bestowa blessingupon you today."
But to the othersHe saidin my hearing,"Gothrough the cityafterhim and strike;do not let your eyehavepityand do not spare.
So Mosessaidto the judgesof Israel,"Eachof you slayhis menwho have joinedthemselves to Baalof Peor."
"Ifanyonecomesto Me, and does not hatehis own fatherand motherand wifeand childrenand brothersand sisters,yes,and evenhis ownlife,he cannotbe My disciple.
Thereforefrom nowon we recognizeno oneaccordingto the flesh;eventhoughwe have knownChristaccordingto the flesh,yetnowwe know[Him] [in this way] no longer.
"So you shall stonehim to deathbecausehe has soughtto seduceyou from the LORDyour Godwho broughtyou out from the landof Egypt,out of the houseof slavery.
"Ifyour brother,your mother'sson,oryour sonordaughter,orthe wifeyou cherish,oryour friendwhois as your own soul,enticeyou secretly,saying,Let us goand serveothergods(whomneitheryou noryour fathershave known,
