"Ifwhathe stoleis actuallyfoundalivein his possession,whetheran oxora donkeyora sheep,he shall paydouble.
"He who kidnapsa man,whether he sellshim or he is foundin his possession,shall surelybe putto death.
"Ifa manstealsan oxora sheepand slaughtersit orsellsit, he shall payfiveoxenfor the oxand foursheepfor the sheep.
"Ifa manlets a fieldorvineyardbe grazed[bare] and letshis animallooseso that it grazesin anotherman's field,he shall makerestitutionfrom the bestof his own fieldand the bestof his own vineyard.
"Ifa mangiveshis neighbormoneyorgoodsto keep[for him] and it is stolenfrom the man'shouse,ifthe thiefis caught,he shall paydouble.
"For everybreachof trust,[whether it is] for ox,for donkey,for sheep,for clothing,[or] for anylostthingabout whichone says,'Thisis it,' the caseof bothparties shall comebeforethe judges;he whomthe judgescondemnshall paydoubleto his neighbor.
But when he is found,he must repaysevenfold;He must giveallthe substanceof his house.
