Then the LORDsaidto Moses,"Behold,I will rainbreadfrom heavenfor you; and the peopleshall goout and gathera day'sportionevery day,that I may testthem, whether ornot they will walkin My instruction.
For [there was] a commandmentfrom the kingconcerningthem and a firmregulationfor the songleadersdayby day.
"You providedbreadfrom heavenfor them for their hunger,You broughtforthwaterfrom a rockfor them for their thirst,And You toldthem to enterin order to possessThe landwhichYou sworeto givethem.
"You gaveYour goodSpiritto instructthem, Your mannaYou did not withholdfrom their mouth,And You gavethem waterfor their thirst.
They asked,and He broughtquail,And satisfiedthem with the breadof heaven.
Yet He commandedthe cloudsaboveAnd openedthe doorsof heaven;
Then he criedout to the LORD,and the LORDshowedhim a tree;and he threw[it] into the waters,and the watersbecamesweet.ThereHe madefor them a statuteand regulation,and thereHe testedthem.
When the sonsof Israelsaw[it], they saidto oneanother,"Whatis it?" For they did not knowwhatit was. And Mosessaidto them, "It is the breadwhichthe LORDhas givenyou to eat.
Keepdeceptionand liesfarfrom me, Giveme neitherpovertynorriches;Feedme with the foodthat is my portion,

and allatethe samespiritualfood;
"In the wildernessHe fedyou mannawhichyour fathersdid not know,that He might humbleyou and that He might testyou, to dogoodfor you in the end.
"You shall rememberallthe waywhichthe LORDyour Godhas ledyou in the wildernessthesefortyyears,that He might humbleyou, testingyou, to knowwhatwas in your heart,whether you would keepHis commandmentsornot.
"Ifit is disagreeablein your sightto servethe LORD,choosefor yourselves todaywhomyou will serve:whetherthe godswhichyour fathersservedwhichwere beyondthe River,or the godsof the Amoritesin whoselandyou are living;but as for me and my house,we will servethe LORD."
