O God,we have heardwith our ears,Our fathershave toldus The workthat You didin their days,In the daysof old.
You with Your own handdroveout the nations;Then You plantedthem; You afflictedthe peoples,Then You spreadthem abroad.
And menwill say,"Surelythere is a rewardfor the righteous;Surelythereis a Godwho judgeson earth!"
And evenwhen[I am] oldand gray,O God,do not forsakeme, UntilI declareYour strengthto [this] generation,Your powerto allwho are to come.
Whichwe have heardand known,And our fathershave toldus.
"And it shall be whenyour sonasksyou in timeto come,saying,'Whatis this?'then you shall sayto him, 'With a powerfulhandthe LORDbroughtus out of Egypt,from the houseof slavery.
"Then the Egyptianswill knowthat I am the LORD,when I am honoredthrough Pharaoh,through his chariotsand his horsemen."
"Thus I will hardenPharaoh'sheart,and he will chaseafterthem; and I will be honoredthrough Pharaohand allhis army,and the Egyptianswill knowthat I am the LORD."And they didso.
Thussaysthe LORD,"By thisyou shall knowthat I am the LORD:behold,I will strikethe waterthat is in the Nilewith the staffthat is in my hand,and it will be turnedto blood.
"The Egyptiansshall knowthat I am the LORD,when I stretchout My handon Egyptand bringout the sonsof Israelfrom their midst."
So Aaronstretchedout his handoverthe watersof Egypt,and the frogscameup and coveredthe landof Egypt.
"It is the livingwho givethanksto You, as I do today;A fathertellshis sonsaboutYour faithfulness.
and I pronouncedthem uncleanbecause of their gifts,in that they caused alltheir firstbornto passthrough[the fire] sothat I might makethem desolate,in orderthat they might knowthat I am the LORD."'
"When I had broughtthem into the landwhichI sworeto giveto them, then they saweveryhighhilland everyleafytree,and they offeredtheretheir sacrificesand therethey presentedthe provocationof their offering.Therealso they madetheir soothingaromaand therethey pouredout their drinkofferings.
Tellyour sonsabout it, And [let] your sons[tell] their sons,And their sonsthe nextgeneration.
Fathers,do not provokeyour childrento anger,but bringthem up in the disciplineand instructionof the Lord.
"Onlygiveheedto yourself and keepyour souldiligently,sothat you do not forgetthe thingswhichyour eyeshave seenand they do not departfrom your heartallthe daysof your life;but makethem knownto your sonsand your grandsons.
