He had him ridein his secondchariot;and they proclaimedbeforehim, "Bowthe knee!"And he sethim overallthe landof Egypt.
When the virginswere gatheredtogether the secondtime,then Mordecaiwas sittingat the king'sgate.
In thosedays,while Mordecaiwas sittingat the king'sgate,Bigthanand Teresh,twoof the king'sofficialsfrom those who guardedthe door,becameangryand soughtto layhandson KingAhasuerus.
[Now] there was at the citadelin Susaa Jewwhose namewas Mordecai,the sonof Jair,the sonof Shimei,the sonof Kish,a Benjamite,
AftertheseeventsKingAhasueruspromotedHaman,the sonof Hammedathathe Agagite,and advancedhim and establishedhis authorityoverallthe princeswho[were] with him.
Then the king'sservantswhowere at the king'sgatesaidto Mordecai,"Whyare you transgressingthe king'scommand?"
When Hamansawthat Mordecaineitherboweddownnorpaidhomageto him, Hamanwas filledwith rage.
Then Hamanwentout that daygladand pleasedof heart;but when HamansawMordecaiin the king'sgateand that he did not standup or tremblebeforehim, Hamanwas filledwith angeragainstMordecai.
In whose eyesa reprobateis despised,But who honorsthose who fearthe LORD;He swearsto his own hurtand does not change;
Then the LORDsaidto Moses,"Writethisin a bookas a memorialand reciteit to Joshua,that I will utterlyblotout the memoryof Amalekfrom underheaven."
and he said,"The LORDhas sworn;the LORDwill have waragainst Amalekfrom generationto generation."
And Danielmaderequestof the king,and he appointedShadrach,Meshachand Abed-negooverthe administrationof the provinceof Babylon,while Daniel[was] at the king'scourt.
"Therefore it shall comeabout when the LORDyour Godhas givenyou restfrom allyour surroundingenemies,in the landwhichthe LORDyour Godgivesyou as an inheritanceto possess,you shall blotout the memoryof Amalekfrom underheaven;you must not forget.
sothat at the nameof JesusEVERYKNEEWILL BOW,of those who are in heavenand on earthand under the earth,
Nowgoand strikeAmalekand utterlydestroyallthat he has, and do not sparehim; but putto deathbothmanand woman,childand infant,oxand sheep,cameland donkey.'"
