I saidto myself,"Behold,I have magnifiedand increasedwisdommorethanallwhowere overJerusalembeforeme; and my mindhas observeda wealthof wisdomand knowledge."
Then I becamegreatand increasedmorethanallwhoprecededme in Jerusalem.My wisdomalsostoodby me.
Solomon'swisdomsurpassedthe wisdomof allthe sonsof the eastand allthe wisdomof Egypt.
"Nevertheless I did not believethe reports,untilI cameand my eyeshad seenit. And behold,the halfwas not toldme. You exceed[in] wisdomand prosperitythe reportwhichI heard.
But solidfoodis for the mature,who becauseof practicehavetheir sensestrainedto discerngoodand evil.
Tremble,and do not sin;Meditatein your heartupon your bed,and be still.Selah.
Then Huramcontinued,"Blessedbe the LORD,the Godof Israel,whohas madeheavenand earth,whohas givenKingDavida wiseson,endowedwith discretionand understanding,whowill builda housefor the LORDand a royalpalacefor himself.
"The kingreflectedand said,'Is thisnot Babylonthe great,whichI myselfhave builtas a royalresidenceby the mightof my powerand for the gloryof my majesty?'
Who says,I will buildmyself a roomyhouseWith spaciousupperrooms,And cutout its windows,Paneling[it] with cedarand painting[it] brightred.'
I will remembermy songin the night;I will meditatewith my heart,And my spiritponders:
But Gehazi,the servantof Elishathe manof God,thought,"Behold,my masterhas sparedthisNaamanthe Aramean,by not receivingfrom his handswhathe brought.As the LORDlives,I will runafterhim and takesomethingfrom him."
"My servantswill bring[them] downfrom Lebanonto the sea;and I will makethem into rafts[to go] by seato the placewhereyou directme, and I will have them brokenup there,and you shall carry[them] away. Then you shall accomplishmy desireby givingfoodto my household."
I saidto myself,"Comenow,I will testyou with pleasure.So enjoyyourself." And behold,it toowas futility.
Then I saidto myself,"As is the fateof the fool,it will alsobefallme. Whythenhave I beenextremelywise?"So I saidto myself,"Thistoois vanity."
I saidto myself,"Godwill judgeboth the righteousmanand the wickedman,"for a timefor everymatterand for everydeedis there.
