"Whena prophetspeaksin the nameof the LORD,if the thingdoes not comeabout or cometrue, that is the thingwhichthe LORDhas not spoken.The prophethas spokenit presumptuously;you shall not be afraidof him.
Micaiahsaid,"Ifyou indeedreturnsafelythe LORDhas not spokenby me." And he said,"Listen,allyou people."
In thosedaysHezekiahbecamemortallyill.And Isaiahthe prophetthe sonof Amozcameto him and saidto him, "Thussaysthe LORD,Setyour housein order,for you shall dieand not live.'"
Like a sparrowin [its] flitting,like a swallowin [its] flying,Soa cursewithoutcausedoes not alight.
Let them bringforthand declareto us whatis going to takeplace;As for the former[events], declarewhatthey [were], That we may considerthem and knowtheir outcome.Orannounceto us what is coming;
Then Jonahbeganto gothrough the cityoneday'swalk;and he criedout and said,"Yetfortydaysand Ninevehwill be overthrown."
He prayedto the LORDand said,"PleaseLORD,was not thiswhatI saidwhileI was stillin my [own] country?Thereforein order to forestallthis I fledto Tarshish,for I knewthat You are a graciousand compassionateGod,slowto angerand abundantin lovingkindness,and one who relentsconcerningcalamity.
"Be silent,allflesh,beforethe LORD;for He is arousedfrom His holyhabitation."
But the prophetwhospeaksa wordpresumptuouslyin My namewhichI have not commandedhim to speak,or whichhe speaksin the nameof othergods,that prophetshall die.'
"You may sayin your heart,'Howwill we knowthe wordwhichthe LORDhas not spoken?'
Thus Samuelgrewand the LORDwas with him and let noneof his wordsfail.
