Then DaviddefeatedHadadezer,the sonof Rehobkingof Zobah,as he wentto restorehis ruleat the River.
Davidalso defeatedHadadezerkingof Zobah[as far as] Hamath,as he wentto establishhis ruleto the EuphratesRiver.
Shitraithe Sharonitehad chargeof the cattlewhich were grazingin Sharon;and Shaphatthe sonof Adlaihad chargeof the cattlein the valleys.
To the easthe settledas faras the entranceof the wildernessfrom the riverEuphrates,becausetheir cattlehad increasedin the landof Gilead.
"I will fixyour boundaryfrom the RedSeato the seaof the Philistines,and from the wildernessto the River[Euphrates]; for I will deliverthe inhabitantsof the landinto your hand,and you will drivethem out beforeyou.

"But the landinto whichyou are about to crossto possessit, a landof hillsand valleys,drinkswaterfrom the rainof heaven,
"Everyplaceon whichthe soleof your foottreadsshall be yours; your borderwill be from the wildernessto Lebanon,[and] from the river,the riverEuphrates,as faras the westernsea.
"From the wildernessand thisLebanon,even as faras the greatriver,the riverEuphrates,allthe landof the Hittites,and as faras the GreatSeatoward the settingof the sunwill be your territory.
Thus Joshuastruckallthe land,the hillcountryand the Negevand the lowlandand the slopesand alltheir kings.He leftnosurvivor,but he utterlydestroyedallwhobreathed,justas the LORD,the Godof Israel,had commanded.
"Ifit is disagreeablein your sightto servethe LORD,choosefor yourselves todaywhomyou will serve:whetherthe godswhichyour fathersservedwhichwere beyondthe River,or the godsof the Amoritesin whoselandyou are living;but as for me and my house,we will servethe LORD."
Now it cameabout when allthe kingswhowere beyondthe Jordan,in the hillcountryand in the lowlandand on allthe coastof the GreatSeatowardLebanon,the Hittiteand the Amorite,the Canaanite,the Perizzite,the Hiviteand the Jebusite,heardof it,
one sayingto the sixthangelwho hadthe trumpet,"Releasethe fourangelswho are boundat the greatriverEuphrates."
