Belshazzarthe kinghelda greatfeastfor a thousandof his nobles,and he was drinkingwinein the presenceof the thousand.
Thus it cameabout on the thirdday,[which was] Pharaoh'sbirthday,that he madea feastfor allhis servants;and he liftedup the headof the chiefcupbearerand the headof the chiefbakeramonghis servants.
in the thirdyearof his reignhe gavea banquetfor allhis princesand attendants,the army[officers] of Persiaand Media,the noblesand the princesof his provincesbeing in his presence.
Therefore in that daythe LordGODof hostscalled[you] to weeping,to wailing,To shavingthe headand to wearingsackcloth.
But the LORDof hostsrevealedHimself to me, "Surelythisiniquityshall not be forgivenyou Untilyou die,"saysthe LordGODof hosts.
"A swordagainstthe Chaldeans,"declaresthe LORD,"And againstthe inhabitantsof BabylonAnd againsther officialsand her wisemen!
"When they becomeheatedup, I will serve[them] their banquetAnd makethem drunk,that they may becomejubilantAnd may sleepa perpetualsleepAnd not wakeup," declaresthe LORD.
"I will makeher princesand her wisemendrunk,Her governors,her prefectsand her mightymen,That they may sleepa perpetualsleepand not wakeup," Declaresthe King,whose nameis the LORDof hosts.
That same nightBelshazzarthe Chaldeankingwas slain.
Liketangledthorns,And like those who are drunkenwith their drink,They are consumedAs stubblecompletelywithered.
