"It will comeabout in that day,"declaresthe LordGOD,"That I will make the sungodown at noonAnd makethe earthdarkin broaddaylight.
"By daythey meetwith darkness,And gropeat noonas in the night.
For the starsof heavenand their constellationsWill not flashforththeir light;The sunwill be darkwhen it risesAnd the moonwill not shedits light.
Givegloryto the LORDyour God,BeforeHe bringsdarknessAnd beforeyour feetstumbleOn the duskymountains,And while you are hopingfor lightHe makesit into deepdarkness,[And] turns[it] into gloom.
"She who boreseven[sons] pinesaway;Her breathingis labored.Her sunhas setwhile it was yetday;She has beenshamedand humiliated.So I will giveover their survivorsto the swordBeforetheir enemies,"declaresthe LORD.
"And when [I] extinguishyou, I will coverthe heavensand darkentheir stars;I will coverthe sunwith a cloudAnd the moonwill not giveits light.
For behold,He who formsmountainsand createsthe windAnd declaresto manwhatare His thoughts,He who makesdawninto darknessAnd treadson the highplacesof the earth,The LORDGodof hostsis His name.
He who madethe Pleiadesand OrionAnd changesdeepdarknessinto morning,Who also darkensday[into] night,Who callsfor the watersof the seaAnd poursthem out on the surfaceof the earth,The LORDis His name.
Therefore[it will be] nightfor you-- withoutvision,And darknessfor you-- withoutdivination.The sunwill godown on the prophets,And the daywill becomedarkoverthem.
For it will be a uniquedaywhichis knownto the LORD,neitherdaynornight,but it will comeabout that at eveningtimethere will be light.
"But immediatelyafterthe tribulationof thosedaysTHE SUNWILL BE DARKENED,AND THE MOONWILL NOT GIVEITS LIGHT,AND THE STARSWILL FALLfrom the sky,and the powersof the heavenswill be shaken.
Nowfrom the sixthhourdarknessfellupon allthe landuntilthe ninthhour.
When the sixthhourcame,darknessfelloverthe wholelanduntilthe ninthhour.
It was nowaboutthe sixthhour,and darknessfelloverthe wholelanduntilthe ninthhour,
I lookedwhenHe brokethe sixthseal,and there was a greatearthquake;and the sunbecameblackas sackcloth[made] of hair,and the wholemoonbecamelikeblood;
The fourthangelsounded,and a thirdof the sunand a thirdof the moonand a thirdof the starswere struck,sothat a thirdof them would be darkenedand the daywould not shinefor a thirdof it, and the nightin the same way.
