I againsawunderthe sunthat the raceis not to the swiftand the battleis not to the warriors,and neitheris breadto the wisenorwealthto the discerningnorfavorto men of ability;for timeand chanceovertakethem all.
Now the Egyptiansare menand not God,And their horsesare fleshand not spirit;So the LORDwill stretchout His hand,And he who helpswill stumbleAnd he who is helpedwill fall,And allof them will cometo an endtogether.
For the destroyeris comingagainsther, againstBabylon,And her mightymenwill be captured,Their bowsare shattered;For the LORDis a Godof recompense,He will fullyrepay.
"I will strikeyour bowfrom your lefthandand dashdownyour arrowsfrom your righthand.
I sawthe Lordstandingbesidethe altar,and He said,"Smitethe capitalsso that the thresholdswill shake,And breakthem on the headsof them all!Then I will slaythe restof them with the sword;They will not have a fugitivewho will flee,Or a refugeewho will escape.
I will overthrowthe thronesof kingdomsand destroythe powerof the kingdomsof the nations;and I will overthrowthe chariotsand their riders,and the horsesand their riderswill godown,everyoneby the swordof another.'
