So then,somewere shoutingonething and some another,for the assemblywas in confusionand the majoritydid not knowfor whatreasonthey had come together.
As Paulwas aboutto be broughtinto the barracks,he saidto the commander,"MayI saysomethingto you?" And he said,"Do you knowGreek?
the commanderorderedhim to be broughtinto the barracks,statingthat he should be examinedby scourgingsothat he might findout the reasonwhythey were shoutingagainst him that way.
But on the next day,wishingto knowfor certainwhyhe had been accusedby the Jews,he releasedhim and orderedthe chief priestsand allthe Councilto assemble,and broughtPauldownand sethim beforethem.
And as a greatdissensionwas developing,the commanderwas afraidPaulwould be torn to piecesby them and orderedthe troopsto go downand take him away from them by force,and bringhim into the barracks.
But the sonof Paul'ssisterheardof their ambush,and he cameand enteredthe barracksand toldPaul.
But the next day,leavingthe horsemento goon with him, they returnedto the barracks.
"Yet I havenothingdefiniteabouthim to writeto my lord.ThereforeI have brought him beforeyou [all] and especiallybeforeyou, KingAgrippa,sothat after the investigationhas taken place,I may havesomethingto write.
