And having sentinto Macedoniatwoof thosewho ministeredto him, Timothyand Erastus,he himselfstayedin Asiafor a while.
When they reachedSalamis,they [began] to proclaimthe wordof Godin the synagoguesof the Jews;and they alsohadJohnas their helper.
Paul camealsoto Derbeand to Lystra.And a disciplewas there,namedTimothy,the sonof a Jewishwomanwho was a believer,but his fatherwas a Greek,
Paulwantedthis manto gowith him; and he tookhim and circumcisedhim becauseof the Jewswho were in thoseparts,for they allknewthat his fatherwas a Greek.
But whenSilasand Timothycame downfrom Macedonia,Paul[began] devoting himself completelyto the word,solemnly testifyingto the Jewsthat Jesuswas the Christ.
Thistook placefor twoyears,sothat allwho livedin Asiaheardthe wordof the Lord,bothJewsand Greeks.
Nowafterthese thingswere finished,Paulpurposedin the spiritto goto Jerusalemafter he had passed throughMacedoniaand Achaia,saying,"AfterI have beenthere,I mustalsoseeRome."
The citywas filledwith the confusion,and they rushedwith one accordinto the theater,dragging alongGaiusand Aristarchus,Paul'straveling companionsfrom Macedonia.
Afterthe uproarhad ceased,Paulsentfor the disciples,and when he had exhortedthem and taken his leaveof them, he leftto goto Macedonia.
"You yourselvesknowthat thesehandsministeredto my [own] needsand to the men who were with me.
Gaius,hostto me and to the wholechurch,greetsyou. Erastus,the citytreasurergreetsyou, and Quartus,the brother.
that is, to passyour wayinto Macedonia,and againfrom Macedoniato cometo you, and by you to be helped on my journeyto Judea.
and when I was presentwith you and was in need,I was not a burdento anyone;for when the brethrencamefrom Macedoniathey fully suppliedmy need,and in everythingI keptmyselffrom being a burdento you, and will continueto do so.
I hadnorestfor my spirit,not findingTitusmy brother;but taking my leaveof them, I wenton to Macedonia.
Now,brethren,we [wish to] make knownto you the graceof Godwhich has been givenin the churchesof Macedonia,
and not only[this], but he has alsobeen appointedby the churchesto travelwith us in thisgracious work,which is being administeredby us for the gloryof the LordHimself,and [to show] our readiness,
For the wordof the Lordhas sounded forthfrom you, not onlyin Macedoniaand Achaia,but also in everyplaceyour faithtowardGodhas gone forth,sothat we havenoneedto sayanything.
Erastusremainedat Corinth,but TrophimusI leftsickat Miletus.
