and he beganto speak out boldlyin the synagogue.But when Priscillaand Aquilaheardhim, they took him asideand explainedto him the wayof Godmore accurately.
A wisemanwill hearand increasein learning,And a man of understandingwill acquirewisecounsel,
[Like] an earringof goldand an ornamentof finegoldIs a wisereproverto a listeningear.
Give[instruction] to a wisemanand he will be stillwiser,Teacha righteousmanand he will increase[his] learning.
"Cryloudly,do not holdback;Raiseyour voicelike a trumpet,And declareto My peopletheir transgressionAnd to the houseof Jacobtheir sins.
"TrulyI sayto you, whoeverdoes not receivethe kingdomof Godlikea childwill not enterit [at] [all]."
"I tellyou that to everyonewho has,more shall be given,but from the one who does not have,evenwhathe does haveshall be taken away.
Thenbeginningwith Mosesand with allthe prophets,He explainedto them the things concerningHimselfin allthe Scriptures.
"Ifanyoneis willingto doHis will,he will knowof the teaching,whetherit is of Godor[whether] I speakfrom Myself.
Thereforethey spenta longtime[there] speaking boldly[with reliance] upon the Lord,who was testifyingto the wordof His grace,grantingthat signsand wondersbe doneby their hands.
Paul,having remainedmanydayslonger,took leaveof the brethrenand put out to seafor Syria,and with him were Priscillaand Aquila.In Cenchreahe had his haircut,for he was keepinga vow.
This manhad beeninstructedin the wayof the Lord;and being ferventin spirit,he was speakingand teachingaccuratelythe things concerningJesus,being acquaintedonlywith the baptismof John;
And he enteredthe synagogueand continued speaking out boldlyfor threemonths,reasoningand persuading[them] aboutthe kingdomof God.
When they had seta dayfor Paul, they cameto him at his lodgingin large numbers;and he was explainingto them by solemnly testifyingabout the kingdomof Godand trying to persuadethem concerningJesus,from boththe Lawof Mosesand from the Prophets,from morninguntilevening.
And he said,"Well,howcouldI, unlesssomeoneguidesme?" And he invitedPhilipto comeup and sitwith him.
And the eyecannotsayto the hand,"I havenoneedof you"; oragainthe headto the feet,"I havenoneedof you."
Let no mandeceivehimself.Ifany manamongyou thinksthat he is wisein thisage,he must becomefoolish,sothat he may becomewise.
Ifanyonesupposesthat he knowsanything,he has not yetknownas he oughtto know;
Thereforeleavingthe elementaryteachingabout the Christ,let us presson to maturity,not layingagaina foundationof repentancefrom deadworksand of faithtowardGod,
but growin the graceand knowledgeof our Lordand SaviorJesusChrist.To Him [be] the glory,bothnowand to the dayof eternity.Amen.
