SoPaulstoodin the midstof the Areopagusand said,"Menof Athens,I observethat you are very religiousin all respects.
"A droughton her waters,and they will be driedup! For it is a landof idols,And they are madover fearsomeidols.
Nowthosewho escortedPaulbroughthim as faras Athens;and receivinga commandfor Silasand Timothyto cometo him as soonas possible,they left.
Nowwhile Paulwas waitingfor them at Athens,his spiritwas being provokedwithinhim as he was observingthe cityfull of idols.
And they tookhim and broughthim to the Areopagus,saying,"Maywe knowwhatthisnewteachingis which you are proclaiming?
But somemenjoinedhim and believed,amongwhomalsowere Dionysiusthe Areopagiteand a womannamedDamarisand otherswith them.
Afterquietingthe crowd,the town clerksaid,"Menof Ephesus,whatmanis there after allwhodoes not knowthat the cityof the Ephesiansis guardian of the templeof the greatArtemisand of the [image] which fell down from heaven?
but they [simply] hadsomepoints of disagreementwith him abouttheir ownreligionand abouta deadman,Jesus,whomPaulassertedto be alive.
